Laptop DBT Scheme 2024 is again in discussion due to its name change. Earlier the name of this scheme was Biju Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana and was launched during 2013-2014. However, on 27th August 2024, the scheme was renamed to Godabarish Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana. The aim of the scheme remains the same to offer financial support to the students of Odisha to buy laptops. Also, the eligibility and other details have been kept intact as before.
The State Government of Odisha will open the registration link for the scheme for 2 months between all the eligible students must apply for the scheme. This article will help you in understanding the different aspects of the scheme to avail its benefits.

Benefits of the Scheme
The scheme’s objective is quite clear and that is to offer financial assistance of Rs. 30,000 to the most deserving students in Odisha to buy a laptop for their education. After the application window is closed, the selection process will start. The students selected through different reviews will be the ones to get the financial assistance of Rs. 30,000 directly into their bank account for purchasing their laptops.
Who is Eligible for the Scheme?
To avail of the benefits of the scheme, the applicants must be eligible for it.
- Only the permanent residents of Odisha can apply for the scheme.
- The applicants must have passed Class 12th from the Council of Higher Secondary Education in Odisha.
- Students who have cleared the Upshashtri exam from Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University will be also eligible for this scheme.
How to Apply for the Laptop DBT Scheme 2024?
All the eligible students must first register on the official scholarship portal of Odisha from where they can apply for the Laptop DBT Scheme.
Registration:
Here is the process of registration on the Scholarship Portal of Odisha.
Step – 1 – First, visit the official Scholarship Portal of Odisha at https://scholarship.odisha.gov.in/website/home.
Step – 2 – Click on Login and select Student Login.
Step – 3 – On the login page, click on Register.
Step – 4 – Go through the guidelines and click on the box to proceed.
Step – 5 – Enter your Aadhar Number to get OTP.
Step – 6 – After OTP verification, enter your details on the form that arrives.
Step – 7 – Submit your details to complete the registration.
After the registration is complete, you shall get your login credentials on your registered mobile number and email ID.
Application:
Now, when you have registered on the Scholarship Portal, you can apply for any scheme on the portal such as the Laptop DBT scheme.
Step – 1 – Go to the Scholarship portal of Odisha again and log in with your credentials.
Step – 2 – Go to Schemes and Scholarships and select Godabarish Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana.
Step – 3 – Fill out the application form with the necessary details.
Step – 4 – Upload the required documents and submit the application form.
Step – 5 – Take a print of the application form along with the documents you have uploaded to submit them at the Principal Office of your college of institute for processing.
Note: The portal will bring this scheme from 29th August 2024 to 28th October 2024. So, all the students must apply for the scheme within this time frame only.

Selection Procedure for the Scheme
The State Government authorities will select only 15000 registered candidates from those who have applied for this scheme. There are specific numbers that the authorities will choose from different categories in terms of Streams of Learning and Caste Category. The selection of the students will be based on merit. Mostly those students will be preferred who have gained marks above 60% on their Higher Secondary examination. Now, from these students also, those 15000 students will be selected who have performed the best in their Higher Secondary exams compared to others.
